Is it okay to allow a puppy access to old dogs Dog Run/kennel?
I just purchased an 8 week old puppy. He has recieved his first set of vaccanations and is due to get his second set in two weeks.
I noticed when I picked him up from the breeder that she did not allow him to urinate in any area where it appeared other dogs had already done so. She also told me not to take him to a dog park until after he had recieved his second set of vaccines in order to prevent any illness.
I just moved in to a new home and had the old owners leave their kennel/dog run in the backyard. It’s clean, but does have some old fur and some signs of where their dog may have had accidents. Is it okay to allow my puppy to stay in the kennel while we are away? Or is this a way that he could aquire some type of illness? I have swept it up and sprayed it down with a hose.
I would thoroughly disinfect the old kennel before I allowed the puppy in — use Bleach — it is effective against most everything and then rinse it very thoroughly so no trace of bleach remains. Throw out any blankets, rugs or bedding in the kennel.
