Question about Dog Agility competitions?
I recently got my corgi (we think) mix involved in agility. She caught on quickly, did her first timed run in the class in 45 seconds (and that was with me taking her totally off course on accident). I'm trying to enroll her in another series of classes, but I'm looking around to see what competitions I can put her in. She's about 14 inches tall and is a mixed breed. I don't know how to determine if a club allows mixed breeds to compete or not, or how to tell if regular agility courses will be at a competition (I see tunnels listed, and snooker and gamblers, but I don't know if it's just assumed that they will have a standard course). Also, what height category would she be in? Any advice or info would be great!

This is a whole new world to us and I'm looking for some help in navigating it.
Generally, obedience and agility training facilities accept All Dogs. In fact, mixbreeds are some of the top performing dogs in USDAA.

The classes that will be offered depend upon the venue your running in.
Here are the classes that the venues offer:
AKC: Standard, Jumpers with Weaves, FAST
USDAA: Standard, Jumpers, Snooker, Gamble, Grand Prix, Steeplechase, Pairs
NADAC: Standard, Jumpers, Tunnels, Touch N Go, Weavers, Hoopers & Gaters
CPE: Standard, Jumpers, Snooker, Wild Card
UKC: UAG1, UAG2, UAG3
To find a local agility club, visit the websites I listed above. Also, you can call and ask. You want an instructor who competes, is successful and runs different breeds of dogs. Not just Goldens, Shelties & BC's.
The height catagory Your Dog will be in will depend on what she measures at the shoulder. Also, almost all of the venues offer a class where your dog can run at a lower jump height.''
Oh and almost forgot, when you do find an agility class and it comes time for your dog to learn contacts, you will want to have a Running Contact on your dog. I'm assuming that since your dog is a Corgi mix, that she is low and long backed. Running Contacts put less stress on the dog, because it doesn't require the dog to stop at the bottom of the Aframe, thus, putting less pressure on it's back. So you will not want a "2 on 2off" contact.
